I had the pleasure to capture a handsome family in Deep Cove last month. Deep Cove is a little community at the Eastern tip of North Vancouver. It boosts an idyllic harbour bay facing magnificent mountains. It is popular for kayaking and other water activities for Vancouverites. In fact, I just went there for kayaking over the weekend!

I know of the neighbourhood and have been a few times as a casual tourist. The C family chose their home neighbourhood as the backdrop of their portraits because the landscape represents them so much. Mommy T told me so many interesting titbits about Deep Cove that deepened (pun intended) my understanding about this quaint little gem in the Lower Mainland.

-        Deep Cove is a popular neighbourhood for families. Many people spend their young adulthood elsewhere, and return to raise their own families. In fact, many people spend their childhood, their retirement and all the years in between here!

-        Deep Cove is a relaxed and tight community. Neighbours stroll on the street and say hi to one another (They actually know their neighbours!) Sportswear is a staple here. You don’t see many designer purses here.

-        Along the same line, residents here are very fit. I guess it’s the active West Coast lifestyle on steroid.

-        I didn’t know that Deep Cove is very white. There are very few non-Caucasian children in school. I can understand that—I wouldn’t like to live too far from Wonton Noodles, Japanese Ramen and T&T Supermarket.

And thank you T for your recommendation of Arms Reach Bistro. I had a fabulous dinner there after kayaking—in my kayaking outfit of course!
